Carmen Karlaff, owner of a native grass and wildflower seed farm in northwestern Minnesota, is busy with spring farming operations, prairie cabin rentals, enjoying her relationship with her boyfriend Nick, and getting to know his half-sister Faye. When an emergency visit to the local dentist is required, she is shocked by the dentist’s murder minutes after fixing Carmen’s tooth. The death appears to be drug-related, and with no friends or family under suspicion, she is relieved there is no need for her to be involved.  Her relief is short-lived when another dead body with ties to Faye is found in one of Carmen’s burnt fields. When both Nick and Faye end up on the Sheriff’s suspect list, Carmen is forced to investigate. In the process, Nick and Faye’s past is revealed with surprising ties to Carmen’s father.  As she follows the clues to clear her loved ones, she finds herself in harm’s way again.
